ヘレナ・ゴウコさんは18歳の頃から様々な織物に取り組み、1972年から本格的に**二重織り（ヤノフ織り）**を始めました。技術面ではレジナ・クルポヴィッチ（Regina Krupowicz）に師事し、伝統的な技法を学びながら独自の表現を発展させてきました。
ゴウコさんの作品は、ポーランドの農村生活や自然をモチーフにしており、ガオ柄（ヤノフ村の珍獣模様）や生命の樹などのテーマを好んで織り込んでいます。美術の高等教育を受けた作家とは異なる、農村ならではの素朴で独特なアート性が感じられます。シンプルな描写の中にも独自の表現方法が光り、観る者に強い印象を与える作品が多いのが特徴です。
ゴウコさんの活動は国内外で高く評価されており、2024/2025年には文化保護・普及活動に対する公式な芸術賞を受賞。作品は地元のコンテストや全国規模の競技会でも多くの賞を受け、ビャウィストクのポドラスキ博物館などに収蔵されています。
