Sanday is Sannes' finest 100% Merino wool yarn and is a great base yarn. It is a fine, non-superwashed yarn that can be knitted in single or double yarns and can also be knitted with Tynn Silk Mohair.
Not only does Merino wool insulate, but the structure of its fibres also allows it to wick moisture away from the body, retaining heat even when damp. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its weight in water before it begins to feel wet.
Sandnesgarn guarantees that the wool they purchase does not come from mulesed sheep.
If washing in the washing machine, we recommend washing all woolen garments separately on a wool programme, as this will ensure the gentlest treatment. Due to Merino wool's high absorbency, it is important to wash hand-knitted garments thoroughly in the centrifuge and then dry them flat, preferably on a towel. Never use a laundry bag when washing hand-knitted woolen garments, as this can cause friction and lead to felting of the garment.
